How Does the Referral System Work?

Now you have 2 options when using the Douglas County Child Care Association for the FREE referral service! You can either call one of our volunteers, or you can use our electronic referral system located on this site. The referral system is run by licensed providers who have volunteered their time to work with providers and parents in their area. Referral agents contact providers on a monthly basis to inquire about childcare openings. These agents are then able to provide parents in need of childcare with the names and numbers of providers who have openings. The benefit of the electronic referral is that it can be accessed 24/7.

Electronic Referrals

To access the Electronic Referral system, click on the “search” button on the menu above. In this area you can search using as much or as little criteria as you choose. You must use at least 1 search criteria. You can search by zip code, subdivision, elementary school, and/or hours of operation, among other things. After you select the criteria, press the “Search” button at the bottom and you will receive a list of results. On your results page you will see a brief description of the provider and their contact information. You can either contact the provider, or click on their name for more detailed information. On behalf of all of our providers, we ask that you contact them during normal business hours. While this search engine is available 24 hours a day, our providers generally keep standard business hours so that they can have time alone with their families.

Investigating Providers

Douglas County Child Care Association is not in any way able or required to give any recommendations or observations regarding the licensed providers on our referral list. As the child's guardian, you are responsible for any investigation necessary to make an informed choice for your child's care. A licensed provider's record can be obtained by contacting Colorado Department of Human Services at 303-866-5958. The only information we require to become a member of DCCCA is proof of current license at the time of joining. The only information we can relay to parents is the providers’ current openings and their phone numbers.
